In 2014, after the birth of my daughter, I developed a rash from wearing a ring. A dermatologist diagnosed it as dermatitis and prescribed topical steroids. Despite avoiding jewelry, the rash persisted for three years. In 2017, I took matters into my own hands and decided to focus on healing my skin from within. I adopted a mostly plant-based diet and incorporated regular exercise into my routine.

Instead of seeing an improvement, I faced a worsening condition. The rash spread to my hands and face, accompanied by hives and other uncomfortable symptoms such as irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia, and achy joints. Seeking answers, I consulted an allergist who suggested I might have a nickel allergy. He advised me to avoid contact with metals and recommended an elimination diet to help identify the trigger for my eye eczema.

After trying various diets in an attempt to heal my eczema, detox my liver, and improve my gut health, I found that none of them helped. In fact, they only made my condition worse! That is until I stumbled upon the low nickel diet, I had no idea I could be reacting to foods naturally rich in metals! Within four months of adopting a low nickel lifestyle, my eczema and other symptoms disappeared.

As a healthcare professional, I was shocked and appalled by the fact that none of my doctors were aware of the impact of ingesting nickel, and other metals such as cobalt, through our diet. This eye-opening experience inspired me to become a coach, with the aim of raising awareness and assisting others who may be suffering from a systemic metal allergy.
